    Published on

Candace Cameron Bure, renowned for her role as DJ Tanner on the beloved sitcom “Full House,” recently opened up about a particularly awkward milestone in her early acting career: her first on-screen kiss, which also happened to be her first kiss ever. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Bure recounted the experience of sharing this moment with co-star Scott Curtis in front of a live studio audience, including her parents, during the filming of the 1990 episode titled “13 Candles.”

Reflecting on the event, Bure described the situation as “very embarrassing,” noting the presence of approximately 200 audience members, along with the production crew and her family, all witnessing her teenage milestone. She said, “I remember I was just blushing, thinking, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m about to have my first kiss at 13 years old.'”

Scott Curtis, who portrayed Kevin Gwin, DJ Tanner’s love interest in the episode, shared similar sentiments about the experience. Curtis recently talked about the build-up to the scene on the “How Rude, Tanneritos!” podcast, which was hosted by fellow “Full House” alumni Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin. He highlighted the occasion’s importance by saying, “I knew that this was a big moment.”

Despite the initial nerves, the shared experience fostered a friendship between the two young actors. Curtis mentioned that after filming, they kept in touch, often talking on the phone and sharing laughs. Bure also reflected on the innocence of the moment, noting that they tried to make the situation as fun and relaxed as possible to ease their nerves.

Beyond this memorable episode, Bure has maintained close relationships with her “Full House” cast … Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, and the late Bob Saget. She expressed that their bond extends beyond professional connections, stating, “We’re all close friends. We keep … .”

Currently, Bure continues to engage audiences with her work on the Great American Family Channel, where she serves as the chief creative officer. She is actively involved in creating faith-based and family-friendly content, particularly focusing on Christmas-themed films. Bure expressed her passion for this genre, stating, “I really do love our lineup at … . They are heartwarming movies.”

Bure’s reflections on her early career highlight the unique challenges child actors face, especially when personal milestones intersect with professional responsibilities. Her ability to navigate these experiences with grace and humor underscores the resilience required in the entertainment industry. Moreover, her ongoing commitment to producing wholesome content resonates with audiences seeking family-oriented entertainment, reinforcing the enduring appeal of narratives that celebrate innocence and shared experiences.
