Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from surgery and isn’t expected to play for the Boston Celtics until late December or early January. But even though he’s not on the court, he’s finding ways to help his team.
Jaylen Brown shared after the Celtics’ win over the Brooklyn Nets on November 13 that Porzingis has been very vocal from the sidelines. Brown said it’s a good sign because it shows that Porzingis is getting mentally ready to return. “Tonight, he was really talking and helping out, giving advice on what he was seeing on the court. It’s a great sign. It means he’s close to coming back, and his mind and spirit are already with us. We can’t wait for him to join us again.”
Porzingis is a big deal for the Celtics. His size and ability to score in different ways really boost the team’s offense, plus he’s great on defense, blocking shots and protecting the rim.
Even without him, Coach Mazzulla has had a solid center rotation to start the season. Al Horford is still playing an important role despite getting older, and Neemias Queta has shown a lot of progress. Luke Kornet is also dependable as always.
But when Porzingis is back, the Celtics will definitely be even more excited to get their full lineup and take their championship run to the next level.
